This warning came Elena Conterno, president of the National Fisheries Society (SNP), who indicated that the aforementioned situation jeopardizes the sustainability of fisheries for species such as Corvina, Chita, Sole, red grouper, and Ojo grape Tollo .

He said that today only bans shrimp and black shells are given, but not of the above resources, which were already considered at risk, and whose catches have not established regulations, or set minimum sizes, and spawning closures or no studies scientists on their development.

He said that until now, not known to the Ministry of Production is drafting rules to regulate artisanal fishing of these species.

In this situation, Conterno stressed that it is important not grow the fleet, and there is a concern of the authorities on the sustainability of fisheries.

According to the SNP, industrial fishing fleet for direct human consumption (CHD) is composed of 628 ships with a total capacity of 111 thousand cubic meters (m3), with reproductive fishing closures, minimum size and global assessments.

Instead, the artisanal fleet has the capacity to extract 153,000 m3, and while the fleet more than doubled, the volume of fish in the sea is the same as the fishing guild.

Last census. Artisanal and small-scale fishing is comprised of 44.161 fishermen, 12,398 owners and 16,405 boats.

Pescadores. Between 1995 and 2012, the number of artisanal fishermen grew by more than 50%, according to the SNP.

Fishery concentration rule
