SNP train researchers and teachers of the National University of Santa

The National Fisheries Society (SNP) will provide technological tools and specialized to the Faculty of Biology, National University of Santa, Chimbote (Ancash) information, according to the agreement signed between the two institutions.

The agreement also includes training and professional development of teachers and researchers.

The President of the SNP, Elena Conterno, said that at present, and in the context of climate change, Peru faces the challenges of sustainability of their fisheries.

Among the challenges highlighted the tight control on landing of fishery resources, support to fishermen in the management plans and clear protocol for measuring biomass, among others.

"This agreement allows us to continue to establish points of contact and cooperation between industry, universities and researchers”He said.

He said access fishing companies during their operations to a huge amount of information on marine resources that can be analyzed to initiate projects on sustainable management or nutrition in Chimbote and Ancash.

In turn the Chancellor of that university, Latin Odar said that by its location and history, the University of Santa has in the fisheries sector to a strategic partner to further develop research on aquatic resources for the benefit to the region.
