Farmed Atlantic salmon ground and indoor facilities have earned the top ranking sustainability by Seafood Watch program at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
With the recommendation of “best choice”Product of Kuterra Land Raised Atlantic Salmon produced in Vancouver Island, Canada, has also been approved by the Ocean Wise program of the Vancouver Aquarium. “These three farms are considered to be representative of current practices and therefore the assessment and recommendation is applicable globally for additional farms as they are developed unless there is a demonstrable difference in production practices.” Seafood Watch report said. Final scores of the farms ranged from 7.14 to 8.02 to a maximum of 10.

The evaluation examined the Monterey Bay Aquarium ground facilities currently operating in British Columbia, West Virginia and Denmark. The three – Kuterra, The Institute of Freshwater Conservation Fund in Shepherdstown, W.Va.; Sapphire and Hvide Sande Atlantic, Denmark – received the first place.
