ANA evaluate Titicaca Bolivian sector to measure water quality

The National Water Authority (ANA) assess the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca to measure water quality and identify whether there is impairment of the water resources and to establish multisectoral sediment conservation and protection measures, it said.

The ANA said that these tasks will be developed under the Binational II Participatory Monitoring Water Quality began in that lake.

Sampling of water in Bolivia Copacabana cover Bays, Achacachi Chua Huarina Tiraska, Drainage, and Guaqui Cohana.

Besides sectors Tiquina Cusijata, Isla del Sol, Escoma, drain the Suches River Carabuco Front Ancoraimes, Moon Island and Santiago de Huata.

The monitoring of water quality, led by Specialist Management Branch Water Quality of Water Management Authority Titicaca (Titicaca AAA-X), also tour the Peruvian sector.

This assessment considers the scope of the Ramis River Basins, Illpa, Coata, Huancané wrench and Suches, plus the inner and larger bays Puno Yunguyo and the mouth of the Ramis, wrench Rivers and the largest lake .

The technical work will evaluate the physical and chemical parameters which include dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, conductivity, presence of metals, thermotolerant coliforms, organic matter, nutrients and metals.

Water samples will be sent to a laboratory accredited by the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) for the corresponding laboratory analysis.

It will feature the participation of specialists from the Autonomous Authority Lake Titicaca, Bolivia and Operations Unit of the Bolivian Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology.

The Quality Monitoring is carried out with the support of the Special Project Lake Titicaca (PELT) and the Binational Authority of Lake Titicaca (ALT).
