Inspectors from the Ministry of Production (Produce) seized in Chimbote (Ancash Region) a total of twelve tons of anchovy caught illegally by an artisanal fishing boat without permission, the government agency said.

The operation was performed in the Centennial Municipal dock at Chimbote, after receiving a citizen complaint.
Upon receiving this notification, the Produce auditors belonging to the Directorate of Supervision and Inspection, rushed to the scene in the company of members of the National Police of Peru (PNP) and the Division of Tourism and Environment.
Note that the inspectors were harassed and verbally assaulted and threatened in order to avoid forfeiture.
However, to have police support, the auditors imposed Produce respective occurrence reports, initiating administrative disciplinary proceedings.
