MEXICO – Season starts Tuna Catch

At 24 am this Sunday starts the season catch yellowfin tuna in the Mexican Pacific and concludes at 00:00 am next November 18, 2015.

With numbers validated at the end of 2013 in the country are registered 83 Tuna vessels, of which 30 are based in Sinaloa, 23 in California, 16 in Veracruz, and the rest in Yucatan, Colima, Baja California Sur, Sonora and Chiapas.

Among the major states with the highest participation Tuna stand Sinaloa, with nearly 52 percent of total production, took first place for the 79 000 545 tonnes which captured its fleet; Colima, with 21.5 percent; Chiapas, 15.3 percent, and Baja California, with 5.8 percent.

Notably, Sinaloa also has the country's largest industrializadora plant and now has installed capacity to process up to two million 300 thousand cans of tuna every day capacity.
