The National Fisheries Society and the Fund for Innovation, Science and Technology (Fincyt) presented a project to develop an agenda for technological innovation and Anchovy use to enrich human food, such as bread, pasta and biscuits.

In this project, in which the companies associated with the SNP involved, it has a budget of 442,000 soles, between monetary and non-monetary contributions.

"What we want is an agenda to identify, dimension and prioritize technology gaps that limit the use of the nutritional components of the anchovy to introduce them to the diet of the Peruvian population", Said the President of the SNP, Elena Conterno.

"The Anchovy is good for the reason, the sight and the heart, besides having many other attributes”He highlighted.

“So we want to make this series of investigations to know the food vehicle to be fortified with essential micronutrients from Anchovy, such as iron, vitamins and essential fatty acids "He declared.

The SNP Holder explained that chronic child malnutrition in Peru affects 13.5 percent of children under five years and that in rural areas this figure rises to 24.6 percent.

"As the major nutritional problems are anemia (iron deficiency), growth deficiency product of poor diet quality and low micronutrient intake, consider the anchovy can fill these gaps at low cost"He noted.
