The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported that the fishing sector shrank 9.32% in May 2014 compared to the same month last year, due to lower extraction Anchovy (-16.09%) for the development of oil and fish meal.
In the month of analysis, fisheries landings reported a 675.652 tonnes, compared to 805.242 tons in May 2013, according to the report Interims Advance Economic Activity.
By contrast, direct human consumption increased 5.48% supported by the largest catch of species destined for canning (42.67%) and for fresh consumption (19.06%).
Mining and hydrocarbons
In addition, the mining and hydrocarbons sector fell 4.49% in May due to lower production of metal mining subsector (-6,06%), reflected in lower gold production (-24.57%), zinc (-6.59%) and copper (-1.39%).
However, the production of iron (14.85%), silver (7.37%), tin (3.95%) and lead (3.07%) increased.
INEI also confirmed the favorable outcome of hydrocarbons subsector (0.88%) due to increased production of crude oil (8.73%); while it decreased the production of natural gas (-3.72%) and liquid gas (-2.36%).
Agricultural
Regarding the Agricultural sector in May increased by 0.34% due to increased production of the livestock subsector in 2.74%.
The products that affected this result were bird (5.38%), pigs (1.88%), egg (1%) and fresh milk (0.88%).
Conversely, decreased production of agricultural subsector -0.55% due to lower production of coffee (-21.27%), paddy (-15%) and hard yellow corn (-5.56%) .
INEI also confirmed the growth of electricity production 5.29% compared to May 2013.
