Seized more than 38 tons of fish in youth size

The Ministry of Production (Produce) said it seized more than 38 tons of Lisa, Mackerel, Horse Mackerel and Bonito were in youth size, ie individuals who are prohibited by law from being captured.
As detailed entity, the General Directorate of Supervision and Inspection of Produce conducted operations in Lambayeque, Ancash and Ica and seized a total of 21,313.5 kilograms of mackerel. Whereas, in Lambayeque, Piura, Ica and Callao, 9,925 kilograms seized Bonito youth.

Furthermore, in Lambayeque and Huacho (Lima), a total of 6387.15 kilograms Lisa was seized. While the regions of Ica, Moquegua and Tacna 1256.16 kilograms of mackerel were confiscated unfit for marketing sizes.

Produce indicated that these operations were carried out in spring, checkpoints, toll, fishing boats, among others.

The company stressed that fisheries remove child as permitted by law harms the reproduction of the species, causing serious damage to the marine ecosystem size. He also reported that it seized was donated to various centers and low-income areas.
