CHILE – Japanese inspectors evaluate sanitary control systems

Authorities Department of Food Safety, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan (MHLW) last visited the country in order to learn about systems health monitoring of fishery and aquaculture products Chileans week.

Besides finding in the field of food control systems, delegation of Japanese inspectors intended to strengthen ties and create trusts for the exchange of foodstuffs.

The visitors met with officials from the National Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca), the Chilean Agency for Food Safety (Achipia), the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) and the Ministry of Health.
The committee was composed of Sachiko Yamanaka, Deputy Director, Office of Safety Inspection of Imported Foods and Makoto Otsuka, professional area, who along with officials Sernapesca observed the implementation of control programs and traceability.

The Deputy Director of Foreign Trade Sernapesca, Cecilia Solis, positively evaluated the meeting with the Asian delegates.

“These instances allow us to exchange information about control systems in the field of food safety”Said, which “not only helps to strengthen the relations between the two countries, but also allows easy access to this important market”.

The Japanese committee will prepare a report on the visit to Chile and everything observed in salmon farms and processing plants. This report will then be sent to each of the services involved for their comments and finally published on the website of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan.
