PERU fishing with guts to report…
The peaceful resolution of the maritime dispute between Peru and Chile, as well as compliance with the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague and its prompt execution, is an example of both countries to the world, said today the Head of State, Ollanta Humala.
He stressed that the decision by the bilateral maritime dispute was one of the fastest in the history of the Court, and noted that it has also allowed open space to a relationship that deepens trust, integration and cooperation between the two nations.
La sentencia de La Haya, emitida el 27 de enero pasado, definió la frontera marítima entre Perú y Chile y permitió a los dos países poner fin al contencioso jurídico que se inició con la presentación de la demanda peruana presentada al tribunal en el año 2008.
Al referirse a la política exterior del Perú en su Mensaje a la Nación por Fiestas Patrias, el Jefe del Estado señaló que esta se encuentra alineada también con el objetivo de buscar posicionar al país como una potencia regional emergente.
“El nivel de nuestras relaciones con los otros países vecinos y de la región es también óptimo. Con esta ambición y fe en la integración es que trabajamos para fortalecer la Alianza del Pacífico (mecanismo conformado por Perú, Chile, Colombia y México)”, apuntó el Mandatario.
Como parte de su discurso, dijo que esta alianza ha dado pasos muy importantes para su consolidación, con la suscripción en febrero del Protocolo Adicional al Acuerdo Marco, con el cual se han profundizado los beneficios comerciales entre sus miembros.
Asimismo, mencionó que el Perú cuenta hoy con 17 acuerdos comerciales vigentes, que cubren el 95% del comercio exterior nacional.
"This figure should be increased by 2016 with the entry into force of six new treaties, four of which are currently under negotiation," said the dignitary.
