PRODUCE suspended exploratory fishing in south Anchovies

The start of exploratory fishing anchovy in the southern area of the Peruvian coast, which would make the IMARPE from 12 to 16 March, was postponed due to abnormal waves, said the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE).

According to a resolution published in “The Peruvian”The PRODUCE explained that DG and Coastguards of Peru closed since March 10, and temporarily, the ports where it was to carry out the research cruise.

Thus, the suspension of activities at ports of Ilo (Moquegua), Caleta del Morro Sama and Caleta de Vila Vila (both in Tacna) was available after reporting anomalous waves of light intensity that could threaten human life, operations and port facilities and protection of the aquatic environment.

This delay in verifying Anchovy may delay the start of the first season of Fisheries of this resource in the southern region, which was scheduled for March 26. As is known, PRODUCE had said that the beginning of the capture of anchovy was conditional upon report to be issued IMARPE after conducting exploratory fishing.

It is noteworthy that resolution PRODUCE not require an early date for the IMARPE perform exploratory fishing in that area of the Peruvian coast.
