By Supreme Decree No. 021-2016-PRODUCE, published in the official gazette El Peruano, it provides that the shark fishery resource must be landed with the presence of the head and all fins wholly or partially attached to your body in shape natural. Thus, it is prohibited throughout the Peruvian coast, landing or transshipment of loose fins or finless logs of any species of shark.,es

This measure is in line with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, CITES, of which Peru is a member, which provides international trade control some sharks, among which is the Hammerhead smooth hammerhead, a species that supports a temporary artisanal fishery importance in much of our coastline.

This control implies that the parties should resolve technical and administrative issues related to the issuance of export permits, known as "non-detriment extraction", NDF, which presuppose a knowledge of the composition of catches by species.

Therefore, for tracking and monitoring of catches on land, it is necessary that sharks are landed so that it is possible to identify the species.

The rule also prohibits the possession and use of fishing gear known as "animalero harpoon". This, because it does not represent an important element in the artisanal fishery and, on the other hand, has been reported its misuse for the capture of small cetaceans and other species protected by law.
