Produce ruled that illegal fishing has increased

The Ministry of Production (Produce) Saturday ruled that illegal fishing has increased in the country as a private consultant said recently.

The Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Juan Carlos Requejo, said the ministry not only progress in reducing youth fishing but also fishing effort between miles five to ten as before the reform had over a thousand boats smaller scale in that area and now there are only 205 boats.

he said.

Director Macroconsult, Elmer Cuba, presented a study in recent days, commissioned by the National Fisheries Society (SNP), and stated that the application of Supreme Decree 005-2012, which establishes reserve the ten miles from Sea Fishing for direct human consumption, raised the illegal fishing of anchovy.
