Peru joins request the WTO to protect her Pesqueras reserves

Peru joins asked the WTO to protect fish stocks in the ministerial conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in New Zealand spoke on behalf of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, United States, Iceland, Norway and Peru.

Groser noted that 85 percent of the world's fish stocks are depleted, overfished, fished to capacity or in recovery, according to a press release.

“We need action on several fronts and reducing subsidies that contribute to overfishing is a major part of any solution”Said the New Zealand Minister.

“Obviously, no country wants the destruction of fish stocks in the world, but that's the danger hanging over certain fundamental Fishing reserves unless there is a more effective international cooperation”, opinó Groser.
