New Zealand – Scientists conducted an autopsy on colossal squid

A giant squid captured last year in the Antarctic sea by fishermen underwent an autopsy Tuesday in New Zealand.

The animal huge female 350 kilos, 3, 5 meters long, three hearts and eyes 35 inches in diameter had been in a cold room to preserve the body in good condition.

Colossal squid is the second (or Antarctic colossal squid cranquiluria) captured. The former, also a female, was captured in the Southern Ocean.

"They have very large eyes and very fragile because they live in the depths of the Sea is rare to see an eye in such good condition," said Kat Bolstad, University of Auckland.
