Moderate growth in fish landings in September

In September 96,500 tonnes of fish were landed in Peruvian ports, 6.7% more than in the same month of 2013, when landings totaled 90,400 tonnes.

According to the latest Statistical Bulletin prepared by the Ministry of Production (Produce), in the ninth month of the year 1200 tonnes of fish for fishmeal industry were landed, while in September 2013 only 100 tonnes were landed in this sector .

For direct human consumption 95,300 tonnes of fish were landed, compared to 90,300 tonnes a year earlier.

In assessing the first nine months of 2014, it is observed that total landings were down 9.3% compared to the same period last year, from 3.5 million tonnes to 3.2 million tonnes.

Throughout this period, 2.2 million tonnes of fish for consumption Indirect were used, compared to 2.6 million tonnes in the same period of 2013, ie 13.5% less, and 951,800 tons of resources for direct consumption, 2.5% more than the previous year (928,500 tonnes).

For the preparation of frozen products landed in September last 53,000 tons, while in the same month of 2013 44,300 tonnes were landed.

Landings for the canning industry fell by 39.7% yoy in September, from 12,100 tonnes in the ninth month of 2013-7300 tons this year.

Between January and September 2014, the accumulated landings for frozen products totaled 532,900 tons, 6.5% more than in the same period of 2013, when 500,400 tonnes were unloaded. And the canning industry recorded a decline of 22%: 73,900 tonnes compared to 94,700 tonnes in the same period of 2013.

In the first nine months of 2014 322.700 tons of resources for fresh consumption, 9.6% more than in the same period of 2013 (294,400 tonnes) were downloaded.
