More Peruvian fisheries products reach the Russian market

The decision of the Russian government to lift the temporary restrictions on the entry of Peruvian seafood has benefited significantly to Peru, says the National Fish Health Agency (Sanipes).

According Sanipes, since Russia reopened its market 22 Peruvian seafood shipments equivalent to 642 tons were certified.

Among the aquaculture-fisheries products shipped to Russia highlights squid or giant squid, hake and frozen prawns, said executive director Sanipes, Diana Garcia.

“It is known the interest of exporting other products like Scallop (scallop), and frozen trout fishmeal, etc.”He added.

Last August, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) lifted temporary restrictions on the entry of fishery products from 18 stores Peruvians, Andina reported.

Currently, 49 companies are registered for export to Russia. Of these, 32 are specialized in direct human consumption products (frozen and canned) and the other 17 are engaged in the production of fish meal and oil.

In addition, another 11 plants are in the process of registration. In these factories, four have already met the requirements of Russia and are in the process of registration, and the remaining seven facilities are being remedied.

“Recent actions by the Russian Federation on trade opening will allow new opportunities to expand Peruvian exports of fishery and aquaculture products, benefiting foreign exchange earnings to the country”Garcia said.

The certificates required by Russia are issued by Sanipes, accrediting body compliance with the health requirements of products from the sea, under the Russian health regulations for marketing in that market.
