“Regarding the implementation and expansion of the port, is expected to close in 2015 phases 1 and 2, to continue the technical stages of phase 3, 4 and 5, and invest four million dollars per week”He said.

In response, this morning announced the acquisition of four cranes Super Post Panamax, which costs about seven million dollars each, and they come to be the largest in the world, so they provide more competitive international market access.

“Today we received the first four Super Post Panamax cranes, a total of 13 cranes. And in this moment, there are big ships coming to Peru, with a capacity of only 10,000 containers. But with these new cranes, reach new ships 16,000 containers per ship”He mentioned.

He stressed that for the Peruvian market, this means having greater business opportunities and scale, allowing the arrival of large capacity vessels, putting Peru's exports to the highest levels of competition.

He added that four new cranes are machines that arrived in the last three months of the Port of Callao, as the two mobile cranes and 12 yard cranes add power.

“The operation of this first batch of cranes generate the creation of over 100 new jobs. This makes us proud because it allows to provide a new standard of professional training for the community of Callao, through the training center APM Terminals”He said.

In turn, the Project Director of APM Terminals Callao, Kornelis Goedendorp, explained that these cranes have a reach of 68 meters, equivalent to 23 rows of containers, and have the ability to operate the largest vessels in the world, up to 18,000 20-foot containers.
