More than 90,000 infants received fish fish producers in Loreto

The Research Institute of the Peruvian Amazon (IIAP) delivered 90,000 post larvae (newborn fish) Gamitana, to be shared across farmers from the towns of San Pablo and Caballococha, Loreto region, he said.

The IIAP indicated that the return of fish is part of the Public Investment Project "Improving Aquaculture Technology Transfer" which drives the AQUAREC Program.

The delivery was made by a committee of the IIAP who came to these localities, led by biologist Javier Del Aguila, with the aim of strengthening the capacities of the fish aquaculture producers in the Loreto Region and facilitate the transfer of technology achieved in the years.

Both shipments were stocked in ponds of project beneficiaries, where they will be fed by the space of 30 days approximately, for there to be distributed to other nearby beneficiaries.

The direct beneficiaries of San Pablo receive 50,000 post larvae, while those beneficiaries receive 40,000 Caballococha Gamitana post larvae.

This important contribution is part of future agreements to be signed between the IIAP and the authorities of both municipalities.

Similar experiences are also executed in the Province of Requena and Alto Amazonas.

Recently, using this methodology, the fish farmers of San Lorenzo were also benefited from the delivery of post larvae Gamitana, now totaling 400,000 in the last quarter.

In the medium term this contribution will improve the protein intake of Amazonian peoples.
