Government and companies encourage consumption of fish and Pota

The Ministry of Production and several fishing companies joined together to promote the consumption of fish and Pota or giant squid (Dosidicus gigas) through a campaign whose slogan is 'Fish rich and nourishing for the whole family'.

The initiative, which is part of the National Program to Eating Fish, was launched last November 12 and ended Sunday, anticipating reedit in 2015.

Attended by the Austral Enterprises (preserved with Bayóvar) Nutrimar (canned Ayllu), Deprodeca (canned Gloria) Rate (burger Anchovy), Peru Pacific (frozen smelt and nuggets of Pota or giant squid) and La Ceiba (frozen Gamitana, Paco and Paiche).

In addition, Plaza Vea supermarket, Wong, Metro Tottus and tastings of products offered by the participating companies and the public were given recipes to boost consumption were performed.

In the tastings made with canned mackerel, Mackerel, Bonito and anchovy products offered, and also more elaborate, such as rings or giant squid Pota, skewers Paiche, Paco and Gamitana, and bread batter Pejerrey food.

Supermarkets involved in the initiative are located in Lima, Huancayo, Huanuco, Arequipa and Cusco.

The Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Juan Carlos Requejo, congratulated and thanked the companies that are participating in this campaign and took the opportunity to invite other companies in the sector to join this initiative.

The National Eating Fish A program has the aim of promoting the consumption of fish and other aquatic products in the coastal region, the mountains and jungle of Peru, in its different presentations: frozen, fresh and canned.

On the other hand, the Deputy Minister anticipated that in the framework of the activities of the Summit on Climate Change UN-Conference of the Parties COP 20, the Ministry initiated the campaign 'Responsible Consumers, Sustainable Fisheries'. The idea is to encourage citizen engagement with ecosystem sustainability of the seas, rivers and lakes, through informed and responsible consumption of marine species and resources ban.
