The multisectoral committee of the National Study of El Niño (ENFEN), through a statement issued today, raised from weak to moderate the magnitude of El Niño scheduled from May.
It should be noted that there are three levels that are managed to climatic effect: weak, moderate and strong.
In the latest report from ENFEN since last March 18 estimated that El Niño have a weak magnitude.
Today's report also confirms that El Niño could reach the Peruvian coast from May. "It is manifest in a warm fall and prolonged due to the arrival of a Kelvin wave that could be as intense as May 2014", Said the ENFEN.
He also indicated that high temperatures and rains in recent weeks to weakening of the winds from the south and not the El Niño resulted. "Although these conditions are normalizing, some episodes of heavy rains on the north coast are not ruled out in the coming weeks," warned.
He added that continue in alertness of El Niño and constantly updated assessments of conditions and the corresponding forecasts.
