Companies exporting agro and Fisheries participate in APAS show in Brazil

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), through its Commercial Office in Brazil, reported that a delegation of 21 companies will exhibit Peruvian exporting agro food and fisheries sectors in FeriaAPAS (Paulista Association of Supermarkets) 2014 in Brazil.

Among the products to be promoted in the Brazilian market are quinoa, amaranth, olives, onions, garlic, asparagus, canned vegetables, Fish, Anchovy, canned and frozen seafood and maca.
During the APAS show not only new submissions Peruvian agricultural products will be launched but consortia producers Tacna, Moquegua and Arequipa grouped in Peruvian Agro Emporio project will also be presented: Sales Centre Peruvian agricultural products in São Paulo.

Producers organized oregano, olives, garlic and onion will present their products directly to retailers and wholesalers in Brazil, and are being assisted by Promperú through its programs and Route Export trade promotion.

It is noted that Peru's agricultural exports to Brazil grew 46.8% from January to February of this year, according to Customs figures, and this growth is expected to continue this year especially in the second half.

It should be noted that Peru is the second largest supplier of olives in Brazil, accounting for 10% of total imports, and this year 2014 has great opportunities to increase this quota to the growth of production volumes this season and the problems of exiten production in Argentina, the world leader today.

In the first two months US $ 2'957,000 olives exported representing growth of 42% compared to 2013.

Peruvian exports to Brazil quinoa and value-added products totaled $ 1'308,000 between January and February of this year, representing more than 50% of total exports in 2013.
Thanks to the promotional campaigns for client Peruvian quinoa companies exported more than 240 tons of this product, seven times more than the amount sent during the first two months of 2013 (31 tons worth US $ 100,000).

These figures allow us to project quinoa exports to the Brazilian market for more than US $ 7 billion this year amount. With this projection, Brazil could become the second or third destination of Peruvian quinoa in the world, surpassing Canada, UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Australia, major markets for this product.

APAS 2014 will be held in Sao Paulo between 5 and 8 May, and plans to gather more than 70,000 entrepreneurs, executives and individuals interested in learning about the latest products in the food and beverage industry and take advantage of opportunities that arise.
