CHILE: Best prices explain significant growth in exports of salmon

Between January and June, the Chilean salmonid exports generated USD 2,314 million in revenue, an amount that shows an increase of 36% compared to USD 1.695 million for the same period last year.

The volume exported in this period reached 285 051 tonnes of salmonids, down 5% compared to 297,632 tonnes in the first six months of 2013.

According to a report by InfoTrade for Aqua, the average price from January to June stood at USD 8.12 / kg, ie 42% more than the same period last year ($ 5.7 / kg).

This average value was determined to significantly increase returns despite lower volumes.
Between January and June this year, AquaChile scored the lead in terms of returns, with sales of USD 304 million and an average price of USD 8.23 ​​/ kg.

In the same period in 2013, the nation's premier salmon were shipped abroad 33,557 tonnes worth USD 192 million and an average price of USD 5.73 / kg.

Cermaq Second Chile ranked, with sales of $ 213 million, and in third place Fjords, with shipments of $ 194 million.

In June 2014, Infotrade indicated that export volumes of major companies Salmon were:
AquaChile: 37,013 tons;
Cermaq: 27 947 tons;
Fjords: 26,632 tons.
