Ceplan: Peruvian Sea is an opportunity for future development

Peruvians have to recognize the importance of our seas as a driver of the economy and possessing great potential for innovation and growth, said today the National Center for Strategic Planning (Ceplan).

Ceplan Chair, Charles Anderson said that these were some of the main conclusions reached by the participants in the sixteenth Future Forum, which focused on the theme “The Future of the Peruvian Sea.

“It was also concluded that there is need for a multi-sectoral commission for ordering the Peruvian Sea with appropriate strategies and actions”He said.

In this regard, he stressed the need for a joint space (public and private) to coordinate activities of maritime domain.

He argued that we should develop the potential we have in different activities involved in Mar.

“For example, the maritime trade industry needs to develop a national coastal exploit aquatic resources and marine species to promote biotechnology and exploit scientific advances to develop aquaculture activities and sustainable fisheries " scored.

Anderson considered in developing these future activities in the maritime field professionals are needed with an education focused on the ocean.

“If you want to be a competitive country in the maritime field, higher education must become skilled professionals in these sectors in future”, He said.

Finally, he stated that in the context of education focused on the ocean, should be implemented importance of the sea in the Peruvian education, both in schools and in universities.
