Arequipa: 300 tonnes of algae are extracted illegally

Three hundred tons of seaweed are extracted monthly Sector Tanaca, Yauca jurisdiction of the district, Caravelí.
Arturo Montesinos Neyra, Mayor of that district, revealed that local fishermen extract algae from rocks although this is prohibited.

Today Arturo Montesinos discussed this issue with the President of the Regional Council and Director of Caravelí Jose Carcamo Neyra and requested the intervention of the authorities of the regional government of Arequipa, Regional Management and Production Gobernatura place for this to be resolved.

Sometimes two police van to intervene, but there are 80 to 100 fishermen; therefore, greater control and an ordinance that prohibits the extraction and the picking up of stranded algae is required because this is just an apology”Said Arturo Montesinos, who then pointed out that a similar problem exists in Chala and Atiquipa.

The algae are trucked without further control by the authorities, so that the Burgomaster asked for greater control of the Regional Manager of Production, Gustavo Robles.
