Shrimp ban begins in Arequipa December 20

The Ministry of Production established the beginning of the closure of shrimp in Arequipa region this December 20 in the basins of the Majes, Ocoña and Tambo rivers thereof which runs until March 31, 2015, it was reported.

The regional fishery Deputy Denis Roman, noted that compliance with the standard is expected to have more than six inspectors who in coordination with crustacean exhausts not monitor the aforementioned shrimp basin is removed.

The official recalled that the penalties for breaches of the law is up to four years of deprivation of liberty so he urged people not to remove, sell or transport the crustacean that could be sanctioned.

In the last season on shrimp authorities intervened to 21 people for breaking the law deriving several cases to the Public Prosecutor for the investigations.

They also seized more than 400 kilos of shrimp especially in interprovincial transport units from Camana and Majes Valley, as well as various restaurants in the city where the crustacean prepared.

Denis Román said that coordinate with the National Police to intensify operating on highways and restaurants Arequipa City and Coastline.

The Assistant Manager fishery also said he would meet with the newly elected municipal authorities near the basins of the Majes, Ocoña and Tambo rivers to enforce the ban Shrimp in their respective jurisdictions.
