The Ministry of Production (Produce) reported that from 00.00 hours on Monday, November 10th until the 12th of that month the extraction of anchovy (Engraulis ringens) resource and white anchovy (Anchovy nasus) will be suspended.
The suspension is for the area between 13 ° 30 'and 13 ° 59' South Latitude within 10 nautical miles of the coast, says the ministerial resolution published today.
The suspension provided for in Article 1 of this Ministerial Resolution shall apply to extraction activities by artisanal and small-scale fishing vessels within the said area.
The Instituto del Mar del Peru (Imarpe) perform monitoring and tracking of key biological indicators of population and fishery resource and White Anchovy Anchovy must report promptly to Produce and recommend measures for fisheries management.
According to Report No. 03-2014 prepared by Imarpe on "Youth incidence Anchovy Artisanal Fleet and / or minor scale" of 3 and 4 November 2014, it is reported that the incidence of juvenile Anchovy resource reached 22.3 percent in the area between 13 ° 30 'and 13 ° 59' LS within eight nautical miles of the coast.
As recommended to apply the precautionary measures for the protection of juveniles of anchovy resource in the area between 13 ° 30 'and 13 ° 59' LS within 10 nautical miles of the coast, for a period of not less three (three) days;
