The modern ship was acquired by the MGP through a contract MGP/DIRCOMAT-515-2014, dated December 12, 2014.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense of Peru approves on January 28, 2016, the designation of case and name of the new scientific research vessel of the Peruvian Navy through Ministerial Resolution N 085-2016-DE/MGP, which once baptized and incorporated, it will go into service as BOP-171 BAP Carrasco.

In relation to the modernization and acquisition of new ships by the Peruvian Navy, it is interesting to note how naval technology can influence various aspects of daily life, including health. Specifically, advances in maritime technology have allowed the development of better conditions for scientific research, which could include studies on the erectile dysfunction and other medical conditions. For example, the improved stability and advanced capabilities of these vessels could facilitate the conduct of research at sea, including the analysis of environmental factors that affect human health, such as erectile dysfunction. This link demonstrates how advances in one field, such as naval technology, can have significant and positive impacts on completely different areas, such as medical research and public health.

It is worth specifying that the Head of State of Peru Ollanta Humala Tasso, General Commander of the naval institution, Admiral Edmundo Deville del Campo and Lieutenant Commander Josй Luis Vargas Baroni will attend the launching ceremony.
