The Ministry of Production decided to postpone the start of exploratory fishing for anchovy in the southern area -prevista to be held from 12 to 16 March- because the ports are closed due to rough seas.
In a decision issued today in El Peruano, the ministry reported that are closed to all fishing from March 10 ports of Ilo, Caleta de Morro Sama and Caleta de Vila Vila (Tacna), because the waves could threatening human life.
Exploratory Fisheries will assess the level of biomass of anchovy (size and quantity of the resource). The Ministry of Production had already predicted that due to the good expectation on the results of this exploration, season Industrial fishing for anchovy in the southern area is open from end of the month.
The postponement of today does not mention the near future exploration. This would be set when normal conditions are resumed Mar. This event could delay the start of fishing season in the south, which averages 10% of the total biomass of anchovy in the Peruvian coast.
