During the 10th and March 11th at the Diego de Almagro Valparaiso (Valparaíso Region) Hotel, is made the "First meeting technical working group for scientific cooperation between the Fisheries Development Institute of Chile (FIFG) and the National Institute for Fisheries Research and Development of Argentina (INIDEP)".
The Executive Director of the FIFG, Leonardo Nunez, referred to the binational meeting stating that "The main task is to form working groups to generate instances of cooperation and exchange of information management issues of population and exploitable stock of hake in the south, biologically resources we share with Argentina".
Similarly, the Chilean representative stated that the activity strengthens the agreement "Signed in August 2014, whose general objective formalize relations of cooperation between the INIDEP and FIFG and generate opportunities to enrich the research of marine resources."
For its part, the scientific director of INIDEP, Otto Wohler, said "the agreement is very important because many marine resources are the same in Chile and Argentina, for which joint research is vital. " The trasandino Representative added that have made the formal opening of the activities set out in the agreement, such as working groups and frequency of meetings.
Among the areas of mutual cooperation envisaged by the Convention are: to promote and strengthen research processes and outreach in marine and marine-coastal areas of the country; generate knowledge on marine resources for sustainable management and improve decision-making; establishment of joint technical groups; and train researchers on issues related to the sustainable management of aquatic resources.
