Biologist, National University of Saint Romulo Loayza attributed to the scarcity of anchovy mass death of birds, sea lions and turtles.

He explained that many marine organisms depend on Anchovy and decline or migration of this species negatively affects them, especially the sea lions and birds to find food not die.

Regarding the death of turtles, Loayza said this is because they fall into the nets of artisanal fishermen and suffocate in the water because they can not take oxygen from the air.

In this regard, he said that this should be taken into account by the competent authorities in order to identify areas where there are turtles and educate fishermen to take more care when making their extractive activities.

Asked about the death of marine animals that has occurred the last weekend at the beach Atahualpa, the Chief Imarpe Chimbote, Isaiah Gonzales said ignoring the issue and said that they have not been notified of the finding.
